Recent News 13/06/2011

Sorry for the long time, no post, I have been very busy recently dealing with looking at universities, school work and helping my cousins do an open day down on the farm in Somerset called Stream Farm.

Over my half-term period, I played a game with my friends against some other people. I managed to persuade the captain to open with bowling with a hint of IPL in it,  opened with my left-arm off spin in the second over, getting a wicket on the 3rd, result. Later on into my 4th and last over as we were playing a T20 format, I took a run-out off of my own bowling, partly helped by some rather ridiculous suicide running. Unfortunately I wasn't able to bat as we managed to match their score of 145 after 16 overs with a run-rate of around 7.5 an over, fairly impressive.

Last Saturday I played for my school 2nd XI away against Chaterhouse down in surrey on the 1st XI pitch, 5 minutes away from Godalming. On arrival we were fairly hopeful that it would quite a competitive match, we won the toss and chose to bat first. I was looking great after the first few overs when we were on 12-0, but then the collapse came. We managed to quickly fall to 60-9, at which point it was my turn to step up-to the plate, with a lot of pressure on me to try and stabilise everything to attempt to get to a respectable team total of 100, I was feeling surprisingly calm unlike usual. But it wasn't to be, I had in my mind that I would just defend the first few. When a arrived at the crease I realised what everyone had been talking about after they had got out, the wicket was new and had already quickly deteriorated and lacked a lot of bounce. Up came the bowler and pitched it in at a relative 60mph, which should have been easily defened, but it wasn't to be as the ball took a late inswing to hit my front pad, resulting in a given LBW decision which I was rather stumped by as I thought that it was going to go down leg. So after a quick change around we were back out on the field and not much later than that we were back in after they reached our total of 60 in 16 overs.

Exams

I have finally finished my AS exams with macro economics being my final exam, I am very relieved that they are now over. I can now focus on playing cricket which is by far the best sport, fun, relaxing and requires very little effort, perfect combination.
